There is usually a requirement to be a bachelor degree holder prior to applying to take part in a master degree. Sports Medicine Education and Training

A master's degree in sports medicine would usually be two years in duration. During the first year, topics such as biomechanics, anatomy, and exercise physiology would be taught. Training that focuses on careers would also form an intrinsic aspect of the studies, this can include modules on nutrition, resistance training, rehabilitation, personal training, and performance development. Management, marketing, and ethics can also be included in the course.

The majority of sports medicine masters programs would expect their students to successfully complete an internship prior to graduation this would be at an approved facility. There are both non-thesis and thesis based sports medicine master's programs available, though it is likely that the former would involve additional modules prior to graduation.

Still, other students go on to join a sports medicine doctorate. According to official figures made available form the United States Department of Labor, physical therapists can command a salary of around $65,000 per year, personal trainers receive an average salary of $26,000, whereas those graduates with unique skills, such as physicians or psychologists can earn a much higher reward.

Other related positions are also expected to see an increase in the number of openings, though this in part depends upon location and specialization.
